2022 Garagiste Tuerong Chardonnay

This site is always first cab off the rank for picking at Garagiste and can be harvested as early as two weeks before Merricks—highlighting the impact of aspect for grape growing on the Peninsula. Fruit is hand harvested from 32-year-old, dry-grown, north-facing vines on grey-black sandy soils over brown sandy loam. Like the Merricks Chardonnay, this was hand-sorted and whole-bunch pressed, followed by natural primary fermentation with high levels of solids in François Frères 500-litre puncheons (25% new). A small portion went through natural malolactic fermentation and the wine then rested on full gross lees with no bâtonnage for nine months before bottling.

Barnaby Flanders is behind the Garagiste label, starting in 2006 with a focus on a range of small-batch Mornington Peninsula wines with the emphasis on single-site, sub-regional expressions of his region. Known for his artisanal approach, and with a focus on cool-climate varietals such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Barnaby strives to showcase the unique terroir of the region. The winery takes its name from the French term "garagiste," which refers to a group of innovative winemakers who produce exceptional wines in small, humble spaces. Garagiste Wines Mornington Peninsula embodies this spirit by crafting high-quality, limited-production wines that capture the essence of the region's vineyards. The 2022 Garagiste Tuerong Chardonnay pairs beautifully with grilled sea bass served with lemon-infused risotto, complementing the wine's crisp acidity and enhancing the delicate flavours of both the dish and the wine.

Orders less than $199 are shipped for a flat fee of $15 for standard delivery, or $20 for express shipping.

Once your order has been placed, you will receive an order confirmation via email. We'll dispatch your order within 24 hours during week days.

We are an Australian based company, licensed to sell alcohol across Australia. Currently we ship to all states except NT. All orders are packaged securely for a safe transit to you from our temperature controlled warehouse in Sydney.
