We give back

We partner with Carbon Positive Australia and donate $1 from every order to support their native tree planting and landscape restoration programs. 

No vines, no wines folks. That's why from day one of Curated Drops, we wanted to make sure we were giving back to our environment and contributing to a sustainable future.

Climate change is causing changes in temperature and weather patterns that are impacting the grape and wine industry. Rising temperatures are changing the timing of grape harvests and affecting the flavour and quality of the wine. Changes in precipitation patterns are affecting the amount of water available for irrigation and the timing of the grape growing season. In addition, climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of extreme weather events, such as heat waves, droughts, and wildfires, which can damage vineyards and reduce crop yields.

We've seen first hand the drastic effects of weather here in Australia even over the past few years, from threats of frost, straight into blazing bushfires burning our vineyards and causing smoke taint on grapes, through to raging floods. It's been relentless for our vineyards, and wine producers. We want to ensure we contributing by giving back to our environment to ensure we preserve our vineyards for generations to come.

We've chosen to parter with Carbon Positive Australia. Carbon Positive Australia is a Perth-based charity that raises money to plant native trees and vegetation across Australia. They have been working to mitigate the impacts of climate change through action and education since 2001, and over the last 21 years their initiatives have seen over 6 million trees planted and 650,000 tonnes of carbon captured. 

Carbon Positive Australia take a nature-led approach and are passionate about providing ecologically-sensitive plantings that sequester carbon, restore ecosystems, and provide habitat for native fauna. The trees they plant are protected and can capture carbon for many years.

With climate and biodiversity the focus for Carbon Positive Australia, the donations we make fund planting trees nationally with a focus on: 

• Degraded lands to increase biodiversity and to improve soil health;
• In urban areas to improve the wellbeing of those living in disinvested communities, reduce heat-related illnesses, and boost overall climate resilience;
• And in remote regions, collaborating with Indigenous-led and regional projects to fund plantings that provide amenity and connection to Country, increase wellbeing, and foster community health.

Whilst this is a small step in a huge challenge ahead of us, we believe it's a step in the right direction. We've got more plans in the works to make sure we're sustainable in all aspects of our business and continue to play our part in our communities!
