Fruit sourced from Vinci near Empoli. Vineyard about 12 years of age and south-west facing. Two ferments. 100% whole bunch (carbonic maceration) and the other 100% de-stemmed fruit. 8 days on skins then pressed to cement vats for malolactic fermentation where it remains for a at least a further 8 months prior to bottling. The man behind the label is the talented Justin Bubb (today also known for his work in Tasmania, with his wife Anna Pooley at Pooley Vineyards). Justin cut his winemaking teeth working in Chianti and it was during his time in this region, working for a large company, that he realised he had an opportunity to produce some great value Italian wine for his home market. And so, Babo was born.

From a very dry Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, Rosato, to Chianti and Sangiovese, the range of BABO wines truely does bring the elegance and purity of Italian vineyards for us to experience here in Australia.
Chianti is made from Sangiovese, and there is a large variety of styles. However, as a very broad guide Chianti is typically a medium-bodied, bright, fresh and fruity wine. This Chianti falls into this category and perfect matches are tomato-based pasta dishes like spaghetti bolognese. Also pizza and with mixed vegetable toppings.

Orders less than $199 are shipped for a flat fee of $15 for standard delivery, or $20 for express shipping.
