2021 Quealy Tussie Mussie Pinot Noir

Tussie Mussie’s Pinot block is planted to clone 777, or the ‘Morey clone’ to give it its more romantic nickname. It’s a low-yielding cultivar, and Quealy prunes the vine to a single, arched cane, ensuring plenty of light and space around each cluster. These vines are now managed organically with certification to follow in due course.

Tussie Mussie is the most open of Quealy’s single-site Pinots. The 2021 fermented in small open top fermenters with a small amount of whole bunches (10%). Maturation took place in two and three-year-old barrels, before being racked to tank where it rested for a further 12 months.

It’s bright with red fruits, spice and floral perfumes, leading to a palate laden with Pinot purity in the form of mulberry, wild strawberry and a soft enveloping structure. The close is lengthy, pretty and floral. (Distributor note)
