Beautifully intense purple colour with aromatics that jump out of the glass. Pure fruited aromas of redcurrant and spicy plum follow through on to the palate with fresh acidity keeping the wine lively and vibrant. A slight rasp of powdery tannin a herbal element provide a good palate length.
Rob and Louise are the duo behind Aphelion from the McLaren Vale region, with their philosophy focussed on creating wines that are bright and fresh. Their first vintage was in 2014 with a Blewitt Springs Grenache which was an absolute sell out. Since then, the wines have been gaining more and more traction and popularity among wine enthusiasts and wine critics. To that end, they were well deserving of being named McLaren Vale's best small producer in 2019! With their range extending with Grenache, Grenache Blanc, Chenin Blanc, and a Rosè, were excited to see what comes next from the team, but in the meantime we recommend getting your hands on some of the range while we have them in stock.
The team at Aphelion wine recommend pairing this wine with roasted eggplant and orecchiette pasta, or for a cheese pairing try fetta with olive oil with whole peppercorns. Delish!
