2020 Pyramid Valley Central Otago Pinot Noir

Hand-picked and fermented with natural vineyard yeasts in open top fermenters with 15% whole bunch. The wine was aged in French barrels, 25% new, for 12 months before settling in stainless steel on light lees for a further 6 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Bright crimson hue. Alluring lifted aromas of thyme and red cherries. An underlying spicy complexity explodes from the glass. The soft silky texture and fine-grain tannins surround bright red fruits and crunchy acidity which give the wine freshness and length.

Pyramid Valley founders, Mike and Claudia Weersing, were driven to create one of the New World’s great cool-climate vineyards and it took 15 years and a quixotic global journey that included a lengthy stopover in Burgundy. Mimicking the aspect and soils of this region, the Weersings finally found their special place in the southern hemisphere, within a barren chain of limestone-rich scarps at Waikari in North Canterbury. Inspiring all who came into their orbit, over another 15 years Mike and Claudia emerged as New Zealands pioneers of both biodynamic practices and high-density viticulture. Their minute scale and exceptional dedication to their soils and vines led to some incredible wines being produced, with particular focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Orders less than $199 are shipped for a flat fee of $15 for standard delivery, or $20 for express shipping.

Once your order has been placed, you will receive an order confirmation via email. We'll dispatch your order within 24 hours during week days.

We are an Australian based company, licensed to sell alcohol across Australia. Currently we ship to all states except NT. All orders are packaged securely for a safe transit to you from our temperature controlled warehouse in Sydney.
