2021 Frederick Stevenson Montepulciano

Fruit from the Eden Valley. Hand picked, plunged, pressed, bottled, labelled and loved. Blackberry, spiced plum compote, mulberries, blackberry leaf, alpine herbs and a touch of peppery saucisson. Full and plush plums and cherries upfront, which makes way to a sweet core of blackberries with fresh acidity. A slight cooling alpine herb feel that returns to full fruit and tannin to close. Tight tannins are present throughout, but really pull the wine into focus as the acid line tails off. 3137 bottles produced.

Refined, elegant and tightly structured, the wines of the elusive Frederick Stevenson focus on fruit sourced from two vineyard sites – the biodynamic Vine Vale property in the Barossa Valley, and a rugged hilltop to the north of the Eden Valley. The dogged passion of youth, melded with a myriad of thoughts from shoeless galivants around the northern hemisphere educate the wines of Frederick Stevenson – they present themselves as a nod to both traditional Australian wines and an exploration of less familiar varieties and styles. Small batches, minimal intervention, it starts in the vineyard and ends when the bottle is empty.

Montepulciano is a medium bodied red wine that typically pairs well with a range of foods, including red meats, pasta dishes, and strong cheeses. It is an Italian grape variety, and as the saying goes, what grows together, goes together.

For some food pairing inspiration, try pairing this wine with pizza, whether you prefer a classic margherita or a more complex pizza with multiple toppings, montepulciano's fruit-forward character and moderate tannins make it a great match for pizza.

Alternatively, try pairing this with roast lamb. The rich, gamey flavours of lamb are complemented by montepulciano's bold fruit and spicy notes, making it a great match for a roast lamb dish.

Orders less than $199 are shipped for a flat fee of $15 for standard delivery, or $20 for express shipping.

Once your order has been placed, you will receive an order confirmation via email. We'll dispatch your order within 24 hours during week days.

We are an Australian based company, licensed to sell alcohol across Australia. Currently we ship to all states except NT. All orders are packaged securely for a safe transit to you from our temperature controlled warehouse in Sydney.
